Luke 19:10 KJV

The Lord Jesus Christ always kept in view the purpose of His coming to earth as is stated in this verse:  For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.  This is a response Jesus made to a crowd which was grumbling that He had gone to be the quest of a man who was a sinner, the chief tax collector, Zaccheus.  Precisely, Jesus is saying, that this is the primary reason he came to earth as the Son of man:  to seek and to save that which was lost in sin.  During the time Jesus was in Israel, the poll showed that tax collectors were not popular among the people.  They were considered to be the worst of the worst in the earth.  (Not very likeable at all).

We see perfect humanity, apart from sin, living in total dependence on the Heavenly Father as the Son of Man.  It gives affirmation to his full Godhead of him being our Lord God Almighty.  For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Col. 2:9, KJV).   By him taking on human flesh: ( And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth, John 1:14), thus; the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.   His coming to earth to offer Himself a sacrifice in the place of sinners, whereas he took our penalty on Himself, so that we could be saved from the penalty we deserved.  We were lost and therefore, we must be sought and found, that is, Christ came to seek the lost.  Thank You, Lord Jesus for your seeking us!

Whatever was tugging Zaccheus to fight the crowds to finally climb into the sycamore tree that he might be able to see Jesus passing by, was not because he was first seeking Jesus, but, rather; Jesus was seeking Zaccheus.  We believe this to be truth because the Bible plainly tells us, that, There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none who understand; there is none who seeks after God, (Romans 3:10-11).  Now, if Zaccheus was in the tree to seek Jesus, it was undoubtedly because the Father was drawing him to Jesus.

Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost, even the worst of the lost.  If one is in need of His saving grace and will respond to his call with a joyful repentance, then; you will hear him pronounce concerning you, Today salvation has come to this house!

I pray that those of us who know His so great of salvation will ask Him to use us in seeking and saving those who are lost!
