Psalm 16:11 NKJV
With the phrase the path of life David speaks of his escape from death at a critical point in his life. But, then, he indicates the eternal life given by the resurrected Savior to all who trust in Him. This, David is a true witness for through many difficult paths he had taken in life, there was never one he had taken wherein he was lead in error by God. The Lord God lead him through many dark valleys, yet, while in confidence, he made it through all of them. This kept him from being moved by the hard tasks he met with; for he always kept in focus those things that pleased God. David was a man whose spirit was sensitive to God's will.
The assurance David had of God's presence with him in his sufferings: He is at His right hand, a present help to me, and nigh at hand in the time of need. He is at his right hand, to direct and strengthen, and hold it up. With whom My hand shall be established; Also my arm shall strengthen him, (Isaiah 89:21).
Joy in the Bible is usually associated with the people of God, who celebrate God's blessing at a number of occasions as: feasts, coronations of kings, victories in battle, and the dedication of the rebuilt walls of Jerusalem. The Hebrew word is one of several frequently occurring words that express exceeding gladness or rejoicing. Moses exhorted the Israelites to serve God with joy, so that they would not lose their blessing.
