Matthew 6:33 KJV

When we come to the point to seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness it means to desire God's righteous rule on this earth.   We pray the prayer taught by Jesus which says, Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10)  The great duty required of all believers is the sum and substance of our whole obligation and that is, to seek first the kingdom of God.  There are greater and better things to take thought about, such as, the life of our souls, eternal happiness; that is, the one thing much needed.  While we are careful and mindful to do the things that please God and yet work out our own salvation, the focal point will be less on the desires of what we need.

The principle object of the seeking is the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; which direct our desires to mind heaven as our end, and holiness as our way of living.  In this, we should seek the comforts of the kingdom of grace and its glory.  We must aim at the kingdom of heaven; and press towards it.  We should give diligence to make its surety, and seek for the honor and immortality, and prefer heaven and heavenly blessings far greater than earthly favors and earthly delights.   We must seek the things of Jesus Christ more than our own things, and if ever they come in competition, we must remember which ones to give preference to.

Upon rising in the morning hours, seek first every day, allowing your waking thoughts to be on God and his goodness, his grace and his mercy.  Let this principle be first and foremost, to do that first thing which is most needful, to face the challenges in life.  Let Him that is the First, have the first!  Then, there should be no hindrance of the blessed promises of all these things, the necessary supports of life, shall be added unto you.  They shall be given over and above the supply of your need as a surplus in abundance.  Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and you shall have what you seek, Jehovah-jireh -  the Lord will provide as much of these things as he sees good for us, and even more that we would not even ask for.
