The most profound and supreme example of love is the humility in the sacrifice in which Christ died on the cross for us. Although he knew our insolvency, and he foresaw how much it would cost him, yet, he made the sacrifice and paid the ultimate price. This is the highest proof of love that anyone can ever give or do, is to lay down one's life for his friends, to save his friends life.
Giving this type of love for a friend is giving all, and can give no more. Even at that, Christ loved us so much that he laid down his life for us when we were enemies. But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, Romans 5:8. And then, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life, John 3:16. NOW, THAT'S REAL LOVE!!

Solomon states in Proverbs 1:7 that "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
