Proverbs 23:23 NKJV
Where will the heart be lead without the guidance and governship of the Truth? There will be no principles to follow without the truth. The emptiness of the goodness of the heart will be a lack for there will be no practices of right principles. Without the power of the truth, the heart will have nothing to know or rely on to be kept from the stronghold of sin and constrain to truth. The understanding of the heart must be well-versed with wisdom and instruction, thereby, we must buy it, that is, be willing to part from anything for it.
We are not speaking of a purchase value amount, not to say at what rate we must buy it, because we cannot buy too much of it. However, at whatever rate, time studying the word of God, prayer, fellowshipping with other believers, whatever it cost us, we will not give in to the bargain. We will not sell it.
When we come to a point to consider the expense for the means of knowledge, wisdom and instruction, and resolve not to starve such a good cause, then that is when we buy the truth. When at the expense of pain in searching after the truth in order that we may come to the knowledge of truth to avoid error, then, that is how we buy the truth.
After obtaining truth through many means of righteous sources provided through knowledge and wisdom, at no expense, we must not sell it. Do not part from it for pleasures, honors, riches, financial gains, compromises, or anything that this world may have to offer. Hold fast to the truth, and do not sell it for nothing.

Solomon states in Proverbs 1:7 that "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." This is an inspiring exaltation of the importance of wisdom and knowledge. The following verses of the Holy Bible are intended to expand our understanding of life's basic instructions.
