Ecclesiastes 4:9 KJV

Solomon shows here that it is not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18) and designs to recommend marriage and relationships.  His intent suggests that man in paradise  alone, cannot be happy without a mate.  With a foundation for a truth, he says that Two are better than one and thereby will be more happy together than either of them would ever be separate or apart.  They would be more pleased with each other together than they could ever be in themselves alone.  Together they will be able to share their success, weak times and strong times, accomplishments, their thoughts, their concerns, and anything else in a trustworthy manner deemed necessary ,as well as, mutually serviceable to each other's welfare .  This is more enjoyable in many ways than it is to be alone.

The two have a good reward for their labour in that, whatever service they do, it is done and returned to them in another way. If only serving oneself, then only self  can be his paymaster, resulting in ungratefulness and no reward of his labour.  Solomon here infers the mischief of solitude:  Woe to him that is alone.  Therein lies exposure to many temptations which good company and great friendship could prevent and help to guard against: if one fall into sin; a good friend can help to strengthen to rise up again, if an enemy find one alone; it is likely to prevail against them any way it can; with his own strength they cannot make his or her part good, but, with the help of a good friend or a mate, he may do well.  Help will come from each other.

In a spiritual warfare we may be helpful one to another, as well as in our spiritual works joined to the comfort and communion with God.  Where two are closely joined together in holy love and fellowship, Jesus Christ will by his Spirit become the third One, and then there is a threefold cord that can never be broken.  Stay connected with Jesus.
