From the beginning of time, God equipped man with an adequate amount of wisdom in order for man to fulfill his duty and happiness on earth; but, man must not lean to his own understanding to think of himself to be fit to be his own private counselor. To the first man Adam, God clearly instructed him not to amuse himself with the curiosity searching into the mysteries of creation, nor is he to pretend to solve all the phenomena's of nature that was set before him. This take neither would have been possible nor profitable to him.
We are instructed that, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5). The only way we can attain true wisdom is by divine revelation. It is not found in the secrets of nature, higher education, or providence. The Almighty God who created the heavens and earth speaks through his Word, as we should take notice: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear (Matt. 11:15), this: the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. If we were to describe a true Christian, a true believer, an undefiled Saint, or children of God, it would be to fear the Lord, and depart from evil, which agrees with God's character in (Job 1:1).
There is a filial (of or due from a son or daughter) fear of God which springs from many great and awesome thoughts of his goodness, grace, and mercy which is the life and soul of all religions. And, wherever this fear of God reigns in the heart of his people, it will consistently appear by a constant care and love for him, to depart from evil. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil (Proverbs 16:6).
