Hebrews 13:8 NKJV
Jesus Christ is the same in the Old-Testament day, in the gospel day, and will be the same to his people for ever. First, it is from the immutability and eternity of the Lord Jesus Christ. The great head and high priest of the body of the church, the keeper of our souls, ever lives, is ever the same, and we should be steadfast and immovable in our imitation of Him.
The sameness that is referred to here is references to the sameness of the humanity of Christ to all generations of all His followers (believers). Yesterday lies consecrated in memory; to-morrow, radiant in hope; but to-day is poverty-stricken and prose. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, to-day and forever".
Some earlier guides and teachers may have passed away, but, our Lord and Saviour abides and remains the same for ever. Thus, this verse stands connected both with what precedes and with what follows. "Yesterday" carries the thoughts back to the lifetime of the teachers that are now present and those that are no more (deceased), of what Jesus Christ was to them, and that He will be to those that are becoming believers. What He was 'yesterday and to-day' He will be forever.
Remember, we never have to say that we have found in Him a sufficiency which we never shall find any more. Why? Because "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever". He will never change.
Just remember, the time in your life when He was most tender, most loving, most caring, most near, most mysterious, most soul-sufficing for you and be assured that He stands beside you today and forever, never changing, and ready to bless you with 'all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus'.
Remember, Jesus Christ is the unchanging Jesus because He is the divine Son of the Almighty God.
