Could we have been children raised with the favor of God toward us, nurtured by Him, and of his nature, created in his image and likeness, and, yet; revolt from him? Has the possibility presented itself with the opportunity of falling into the category of being called ungrateful children charged with base ingratitude. Deut. 32:6 asks: Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?
The ox a Hebrew bakar, "cattle", "neat cattle", and yet, it has such a sense of understanding of duty to know his owner, to be obedient and to serve him. He has an instinctive sense to know what pleases his master and abide therein. Compare the donkey who has an interest to know his master's crib (manger), where he receives shelter, food, provisions, even if the gate is opened and he goes out to the field, he will return to his master's crib. He has no desire to test the other side for he is pleased with the care his master is giving him. As the verse implies the donkey is noted for their spirit and their attachment to their master.
On a different note, however, but Israel does not know, my people do not consider. Israel; the name given to Jacob after the great prayer struggle at Peniel, And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed (Gen. 32:28).
As a chosen people by God, a peculiar people, a people of whom he sacrificed His only begotten Son to die for, and, Then the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me (Ex. 9:1). According to the good pleasure of His will, we were created to serve him, worship him, praise him and glorify him. Israel does not know Him, although their land is a land of light and knowledge, whereby in Judah, is God known. But, because we do not live up to what we know, it is of no effect, as if we do not know him. Many of us know, but the knowledge does us no good, because we do not consider what we know, nor apply it to the cause or our minds to it.
As his chosen people, we owe it all to Him to get to know him for the continuance of our lives, for provisions, protection, comforts and advancements for being a loving and caring Father to us with his kindness and steadfast faithfulness toward us.
