Proverbs 1:20 NKJV

Proverbs 1:20 NKJV

Everyone values the knowledge of good advise.  The book of Proverbs passes on a vast core of knowledge and experience that God says we must have if we are to live successfully.  These proverbs are universal principles that apply to all people of all times.  They speak to modern problems as much as to ancient ones because they concern human nature and God's ways.
Human nature has not changed since Solomon's time, and neither has God's. Only the landscape around us has changed.

Solomon shows how dangerous it is to hearken to the temptations of Satan, and here shows how dangerous it is not to hearken to the calls of God.  By whom does God call to us? He calls to us by Wisdom.  It is wisdom that crieth without.  So, as the word wisdom is plural there is infinite wisdom in God, so is there the manifold wisdom of God  Eph. 3:10.  He speaks to the children of men by all manner of wisdom, and, as in every will, so in every word of God there is a counsel.

Divine revelation is wisdom; all its dictates, all its laws, are wise as wisdom itself.  God does call, by the written Word:  He calls by the law of Moses; which sets before us the blessing and the curse, He calls by the priests' lips; which keep knowledge, by his servants the prophets, who prophesied to the people, and all the ministers of his Word, and declares his mind to sinners and unbelievers.

Christ himself is Wisdom, "for in him are hidden all the hidden treasures of wisdom and knowledge", and he is the Centre of all divine revelation, not only the essentials Wisdom but the eternal Word, by whom God speaks to us and to whom he has committed all judgment, he it is therefore, who here pleads with unbelievers.  He call Himself Wisdom (Luke 7:35).
